these things blur together
shards, thorns, and daggers
ribbons, leaves, and flowers
actually theres a lot of utility to being a movie person in the study of antiquity, at least in trying to link social context to a given piece of work, like, the same underlying principle between depictions of all foreigners speaking english in this movie im currently watching, or all trojans speaking greek in the illiad. Same with thucydides or the transmission of hellenic tragedy to the latin west, and the transmission of anime slop to the euro-american west, the way you interpret stories from foreign contexts is the same no matter the time depth. More broadly speaking, when you read or hear a story, and you think about the perspective of the person writing it, it's the same no matter what. So dispute between a man and his ba is like watching uhh, sad movie :).
middle kingdom egyptians are like three steps away from watching ancient china tv show are three steps away from watching modern china tv show Aiqing Gongyu is three steps from watching How I Met Your Mother, and the utility of reading Making of the Middle Sea is so I can have more fun when I binge the illiad audiobook or read Thucydides, and theres no actual real distinction between that and when I watch a movie that particularly touches me or changes me as a person, which itself isnt very dramatic because changes happen all the time and is actually a mundane part of life that people pretend isnt, which is irrelevant because everything is rhythm and cycle anyway maybe.
Okay, so like, more recently, I've been trying to make a guitar song instead of a midi song and coming up totally blank for any words. I'm nearing the end of this book I'm reading. I am making progress studying Spanish. I am failing to find any jobs. My heart is kind of mute. Everything is sort of monomanically driven by study and practice, nothing seems to culminate in outcome or output. I would like for this to be not what it is, to be able to make things and say things, but as it stands, quiet quiet quiet shhh
I don't have music to share today. Sorry.
